OPIE Choice Business Intelligence Dashboard System
Members of the OPIE Choice Network can participate in our Business Intelligence Services. These extra policies apply to those users. The OPIE Choice Business Intelligence System provides you with easy, graphical tools that allow you to monitor key performance indicators across many areas of your practice. The Business Intelligence system works by regularly synchronizing relevant aspects of your data with the central servers in our datacenter that power the dashboards. Here are some important things to know about the data synchronization:
- It automatically strips out all patient-specific information to avoid HIPAA concerns;
- It runs in the background, synching up data nightly to update your dashboards;
- It uses industry standard encryption as well as additional methods to ensure security;
- All data gathered is subject to this privacy
Data aggregation in the OPIE Choice Business Intelligence system
In addition to the tools for looking at your individual practice data, the system includes the ability to compare your practice to national averages taken from all participating users in certain key areas. Your data will of course be included in these national averages. The system also represents a major step forward in OPIE’s data aggregation efforts. With this system, we intend to begin more actively monitoring trends across a wide variety of business areas to help move the profession and your individual practice forward.
Can I opt out of the data synchronization?
Yes. If you notify us that you would NOT like your data to be synchronized via the Business Intelligence system, we will disable that feature in your system and destroy any data that has already been synchronized. This of course means that you will not have access to the system for your practice, which also includes the national comparison information.
Does OPIE Choice aggregate my data?
Yes. Our ability to look at the collective data gathered by OPIE and Futura systems across the country is critical for many reasons. It helps us figure out what areas to improve in the software, what services we should provide, and how we can help move the profession forward.
Does OPIE Choice look at the individual data for my practice?
Our data aggregation tools strip out the identifying information not only for your patients, but also for your practice. However, while providing support or consulting services to you, it is natural for individual members of our team to come into contact with your practice data. We also do proactively look at your individual data, so that we can tailor our efforts to provide support and training based on how you are using the system. In all cases, when we are viewing your individual data, our purpose is to help support your practice more effectively, and we will not use that information for any other purpose. Only those people with a “need-to-know” have access to that data and they have all signed confidentiality agreements.
Does OPIE Choice share my data?
Except as specified in this document, OPIE Choice does not share your individual practice data with anyone. We do at times publish or share aggregated results that include your data, but this is always done at a high enough level that it is impossible to trace information back to an individual facility.
Our Philosophy Regarding Data & Privacy
We believe in the power of data to improve our practices and our profession. We are committed to providing you with tools that allow you to make smart use of your data, and to using the collective power of the data generated by hundreds of OPIE practices to move the profession forward. We also recognize that our position comes with a great deal of responsibility and we take that very seriously.
